ACM First International Workshop on

Data-intensive Software Management and Mining

Co-located with CIKM 2009

November 6th, 2009
Hongkong, China

Scope and novelty of the workshop

With the increase of available public software repositories, managing and mining large-scale software repositories have gained a lot of attention lately. Software repositories include multi-version source code, bug reports, and development history. Managing and mining these repositories have been recognized as important tasks in the software engineering field, to support software design, development, and maintenance processes. As such repositories grow larger, needs for applying data management and mining techniques have increased.

However, surprisingly, there has not been a proper venue for software engineering (SE), data mining (DM), and database (DB) communities to convene, for SE researchers to understand relevant data management and mining techniques and for DM/DB researchers to further understanding of issues and processes of software development and maintenance. The goal of DSMM 2009 is to bring DM/DB/SE communities together to initiate the synergetic collaboration and strengthen the ties.

Topics of Interest

DSMM 2009 encourages contributions describing research, applications, and experience reports on applying data managing or mining techniques to utilize large-scale software repositories. Developing new data management and mining algorithms, or customizing existing algorithms for large-scale software repositories are also encouraged. A summary of the main research topics include, but are not limited to:
